Professors Natoya Haskins, Mike Lyons and Julia Taylor were recognized for their leadership roles in a state-wide partnership working to address the mental health crisis in Virginia’s schools.

These annual awards are among the highest teaching honors given by the University of Virginia.

Rising eight spots, UVA EHD tied for No. 8 in the 2024 U.S. News and World Report rankings of the best graduate schools of education.

Bradshaw was among 14 leading scholars elected to the academy in 2024 for outstanding scholarship or leadership related to education.

At the event, EHD faculty and students were awarded for their scholarship on improving outcomes for students with disabilities.

Three School of Education and Human Development faculty members received a $321,000 large research grant from the Spencer Foundation to conduct a mixed-methods study engaging African American children in participatory research.

The school tied for second place in the latest U.S. News and World Report ranking of online graduate education programs and was also named the top online education master’s program for veterans.

Professor Jennings was one of several UVA faculty members, including others from the School of Education and Human Development, recognized for advancing science and understanding.

Of the eight UVA scholars included on the list, six climbed in this year’s rankings of university-based faculty members who most influenced educational practice and policy.

The award is given annually for original, outstanding work that contributes to knowledge and understanding of how to best prepare and support educational leaders.
