“The Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellows program has given us an important path to help talented faculty members build their academic careers here at the University,” Executive Vice President and Provost Ian Baucom said. “The connections that fellows make with colleagues from other disciplines help them to grow as researchers and scholars and inspire new ways of thinking.”
Chiu's scholarship explores ways to support teachers and engage students in science, engineering, mathematics and computer science. Currently, Chiu's work includes projects in Charlottesville and southwestern Virginia, as well as Colombia and other South American countries.
