Biography
David Eddy-Spicer, Ed.D., is a professor of education in the Department of Leadership, Foundations, and Social Policy at the School of Education and Human Development, University of Virginia. He designs and teaches courses and workshops on improvement science and continuous improvement to aspiring and advanced educational leaders in Virginia and nationally. At the University of Virginia, he led UVA’s partnership with Chesterfield County Public Schools as part of the iLEAD initiative of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Learning (CFAT). As a member of the Carnegie National Faculty, he has been recognized by CFAT for contributions to expanding the teaching and learning of improvement science and continuous improvement. He is a founding member of the Collaborative Leadership Board of the Improvement Scholars Network. He has authored or co-authored a wide range of major reports, book chapters, journal articles, and case studies on the diffusion of innovation, professional learning, and organizational change in the public sector. He served as lead section editor and chapter author of the Foundational Handbook on Improvement Research in Education (Rowman & Littlefield), co-edited The SAGE Handbook of School Organization, and co-authored the most recent volume in the Routledge PSEL/NELP Leadership Preparation Series, Leading Continuous Improvement in Schools: Enacting Leadership Standards to Advance Educational Quality and Equity.
