UVA Employee Graduate Admission & Funding
School of Education and Human Development Educational Benefit for UVA Employees
Apply for UVA Employee Funding
Apply for the School of Education and Human Development's Educational Benefit for current UVA employees.
Application Process
- Employees must submit an “Enrollment and Funding for Employees” application form. Consideration of application forms will begin no earlier than one month prior to the start of the term. Application forms must be received before the end of the drop/add period of the term to be considered.
- Upon approval for the School of Education and Human Development Education Benefit, employees must be enrolled in the course by the School of Education and Human Development of Education. Submission of the application form will constitute both a request to be manually enrolled in the course(s) desired and a request for education benefit funds to reduce tuition owed to $450 per credit hour. If employees have self-enrolled prior to submitting the form, they can remain in the courses; if they have not, the School of Education and Human Development will enroll them.
- If funding and enrollment are approved, the employee will receive an email with the approved funding amount, the name and mnemonic of the approved course(s), and worktag to use for the education benefit submission. Upon receipt of this email, the employee should submit his/her request for education benefits through Workday using the worktag provided in the confirmation email.
- The employee will receive the funds in his/her paycheck and should use those funds to pay charges in the Student Information System. Please note that employees must remit payment for the full cost of course tuition in SIS, using a combination of the School of Education and Human Development education benefits, University education benefits, department education benefits, or their own funds.

UVA HR Educational Benefits ProgramThe UVA School of Education Employee Funding Experience
Since its inception in fall 2015, many employees have continued their education with the School of Education and Human Development in individual courses or as students in our master’s or doctoral degree programs.
When I decided to go back to school for an Ed.D. in Higher Education, I had to learn to balance the needs of work, home life, and classes. The [School of Education and Human Development] Educational Benefits program has been a wonderful resource that, when combined with the UVA tuition benefit, makes working towards a degree obtainable.

I had wanted to pursue a master’s degree in Higher Education for a few years. When I learned that the School of Education and Human Development was providing an additional educational benefit to UVA employees, it made it much easier financially to enroll in the part-time program.
