VDOE Regulations for Adding an Endorsement the "Adding an endorsement" word doc is on the Virginia DOE website 2/3 down the teacher licensure page.
Students interested in adding an endorsement through testing should refer to VDOE's list of approved tests. Students should take the relevant Praxis exam and send a .pdf of the score report to Jillian McGraw at least a week prior to graduation. Note that several endorsements (including elementary education and special education) have exams on this list but cannot be added by testing per the VDOE regulations linked above.
It is possible to add an endorsement using content coursework taken during your undergraduate program. Review the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel for a detailed list of requirements. In recent years, UVA Teacher Education students have added music (instrumental or vocal), drama, journalism, computer science, and visual arts through undergraduate coursework. Contact Jillian McGraw if you are interested in pursuing this route.
Students interested in gifted education must complete a series of courses and a practicum, all of which are offered at the School of Education and Human Development.

Accreditation Information
The Curry MT program aims to prepare teachers who exemplify best practices in connecting content, practice and research to foster academic, social, and emotional development in students with diverse backgrounds and diverse needs. Our graduates use data and reflection in their instructional decision-making so that their impact on student learning is meaningful and measurable. It is awarded TEAC accreditation by the Inquiry Brief Commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for a period of seven years, from April, 2015 and April, 2022. The accreditation does not include individual education courses that the EPP offers to P-12 educators for professional development, re-licensure, or other purposes.
The Virginia Department of Education (http://www.doe.virginia.gov) lists the University of Virginia as an approved educator preparation program in the above endorsement areas.
