Students may take courses at their leisure. Once they have completed the requirements set forth by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), they may apply to the VDOE for initial licensure.
Application Deadline
Students should fill out the Non-Degree Student form at least a week before the start of the desired term. Early submission is recommended to secure spots in desired classes.
About This Program
Are you teaching on a Provisional Teaching License in a Virginia public school, PreK-12, and need to fulfill your Professional Studies course requirements? Or, are you interested in teaching, but would like an alternative to a full-time teacher education program?
These course series meet the Professional Studies course requirements that are required by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for licensure in the different endorsement areas:
- Early/Primary and Elementary Education
- Middle Education
- Secondary, K-12 and Adult Education
- Special Education
