Biography

Katy Zeanah is a licensed psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Zeanah manages the Virginia Partnership for School Mental Health. In addition, she is a clinical supervisor for the clinical and school psychology program and teaches courses in the counselor education and clinical and school psychology programs. Prior to joining UVA, Zeanah worked as a school psychologist in a large suburban high school outside of Columbus, OH, and worked in private practice providing therapy to children and families in the Columbus metropolitan area. Zeanah has more than 15 years of experience working in schools and mental health clinics in various capacities including special education teacher, coach, mental health consultant, behavioral consultant, and therapist. She has held leadership roles in local and state organizations and currently serves as a regional representative for the Virginia Academy of School Psychologists. In 2021, she was appointed to the Virginia Board of Psychology.

Zeanah is committed to increasing the availability of high-quality mental health services for students in school, particularly students who are at risk for mental health concerns and those who face barriers to receiving care. Her research has focused on the training and supervision of school-based mental health professionals, school-based mental health, and social justice in educational settings.
