Global Center for Equitable Computer Science Education
What We Do
The mission of the Global Center for Equitable Computer Science (CS) Education is to understand how to make CS education equitable and accessible for everyone from early childhood to adulthood while addressing opportunities gaps in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Our vision is for teachers and students in all contexts to have access to evidence-based practices and resources to actively participate in a computational world. Toward that end, we are collaborating with global partners to:
- Research: conduct research to understand how CS learning happens in a variety of contexts
- Professional Development: provide professional learning opportunities to teachers and investigate effective professional learning practices for integrating CS classrooms
- Robots: develop and provide low-cost computational tools that are accessible to all
Partners
The Global Center for Equitable CS Education is a partnership between the University of Virginia School and the Universidad del Norte in Colombia, and the University of Virginia's College at Wise.
