Biography
Kate Somerville is a postdoctoral research associate with Youth-Nex working on the Preventative Interventions: Collaborative Research on Engagement and Wellbeing (PIT-CREW) team. Her research uses youth and community-engaged methods to understand how educational and social policy can promote justice-oriented school environments that center equity and foster well-being.
Somerville's doctoral research used youth participatory action research and a critical interdisciplinary public health lens to understand student visions for transformative systems of school mental health and related policy contexts. She currently works with the PIT-CREW team on the PBIS Plus project, the R-City project, and the CARES 360 project.
