Biography
Professor Flora joined the school as an assistant professor in 2012. Prior to that, Professor Flora was involved with the counselor education program as a doctoral student and as an adjunct faculty. She has served as program lead for the Sheila C. Johnson Center's Personal and Career Development Center and as president of the Virginia Career Development Association.
Professor Flora's area of expertise is career development and teaches graduate courses to school counselors-in-training and higher education professionals. She has developed two additional courses which expand on the idea of career development: professional development and team dynamics and women and an online work and wellness course.
Professor Flora has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout her career and, in 2018, Professor Flora was acknowledged by a student organization for "creating a more loving and tolerant student body." In 2019, she was elected to serve as an at-large member of the General Faculty Council.
