UVA Communication Science and Disorders Accreditation Public Meeting

  • - EDT
  • Room 318A, Bavaro Hall

Speech-language pathology (SLP) graduate training programs in the United States are accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). To be accredited, training programs must meet standards on a yearly basis and participate in a CAA site visit every 8 years.

As the first speech-language pathology training program in the mid-Atlantic region, the University of Virginia’s M.Ed. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program has been accredited by CAA for many years.

In April, the program will be hosting the CAA to conduct a site visit with our graduate training program and will be meeting with community members who are connected with the program in some way. For example, if you or a loved one has ever received an evaluation or therapy services at the Sheila Johnson Center for a speech, language, or hearing concern, then you have probably been served by a graduate student in the CSD program along with our clinical supervisors or audiologist.

The public meeting will be held in Bavaro 318A on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. You are warmly invited to participate in this meeting to share your input about our graduate training program.

Registration is required to attend this public meeting via the form on this page. Please register prior to April 7, 2024.
