Biography

Xavier Thompson is a third-year kinesiology Ph.D. student with a focus in sports medicine. Thompson works as a research assistant in the UVA Exercise and Sports Injury Lab (EASIL). He has also served as an instructor of record and graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate and master's level kinesiology classes.

His primary research interest is in the reduction of secondary ACL injuries. Prior to entering the Ph.D. program, he gained valuable research experience working as a clinical research coordinator within EASIL on several concussion related studies at UVA. 

Thompson is also an athletic trainer with clinical experience spanning multiple states and a variety of sports settings. He hopes to use his research to provide clinicians with the tools they need to continue to improve their practice.
