Biography

Lucinda Neely received her B.A. in Psychology and Government & Law from Lafayette College in 2022. Following graduation, she worked as a research assistant at the National Institute of Mental Health on an inpatient unit for individuals with treatment resistant depression and bipolar disorder. Neely then worked at Georgetown University in the Context, Development, and Social Policy Lab working on a parenting intervention study.

Neely is currently a Ph.D. student working under the mentorship of Professor Jason Downer. Her research broadly focuses on early childhood socio-emotional development, with a particular emphasis on how family- and community-level factors intersect to promote child well-being and long-term mental health outcomes. Neely is also interested in understanding how technology can be appropriately leveraged by teachers and parents to support children’s socio-emotional development both in the classroom and at home.
