Biography

Catherine Brighton serves on the dean's leadership team and oversees academic programs, student affairs, admissions, and enrollment areas of the school. She also serves as the co-director of the University of Virginia Institutes on Academic Diversity.

Brighton's research interests include teacher change and school reform initiatives, differentiating curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and qualitative methodologies. She is currently co-principal Investigator on a U.S. Department of Education-funded grant on talent development through the lens of literacy. Brighton also led a multi-year project for the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented focused on differentiating instruction in middle-grade classrooms with diverse student populations.
