Biography

Ragan Portaro Folan joined the Foundation Board in 2011. She is president and CEO of Old Salem Museums and Gardens in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Folan was formerly president of Winghaven Consulting, LLC, which she founded after working for AT&T, Lotus Development, and IBM in various sales management and marketing positions. Folan is active in her community. She is the board chair for Old Salem Museum and Gardens, a board and executive committee member of the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem, and a board member of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. In addition, she is a previous board member of Summit School and has served Wake Forest University Medical Center in a variety of volunteer roles.

Most importantly, Folan is a dedicated and loyal supporter of the University of Virginia. She serves on the National Committee on University Resources (NCOUR) while also serving on the Jefferson Scholar Committee for the Piedmont Triad. Folan is the mother of a recent School of Education graduate.
