Julia Parlette-Cariño

Julia Parlette-Cariño is the associate director of marketing in EHD's Office of Communications and Marketing. Her pronouns are she/her/hers. Parlette-Cariño has over 15 years of professional experience in marketing and graphic design, leveraging a background that spans both print and digital platforms. She joined UVA in 2019 as a member of Advancement's University Annual Giving, Direct Marketing team, where she managed digital projects for seventeen fundraising areas across Grounds. Her areas of expertise include digital marketing, graphic and UX design, project management, marketing strategy, and leveraging stories to connect with target audiences. Parlette-Cariño is extremely passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion. In the spring of 2021, she was nominated for the DEI Advancement Community Excellence Award for her continued work seeking to actively improve the DEI portrait both at a team level and organization-wide.

Parlette-Cariño and her husband, Mark (MFA creative writing '10) live in Charlottesville with their son, Oliver. She has a great love for making things by hand—which spans everything from knitting sweaters to coding emails from scratch.
