Biography
Emily McIndoe is a doctoral student in the kinesiology program. McIndoe's research focuses on concussion management and recovery in female athletes, seeking to address the critical gap in concussion research, as much of the existing literature has historically focused on male athletes, leaving female-specific recovery patterns underexplored.
In addition to being a doctoral student, McIndoe serves clinically as the director of the Concussion Lab where she works with UVA athletes on baseline and post-concussion assessments and also mentors undergraduate and graduate students in the Concussion Lab, guiding them in conducting baseline and post-injury assessments for UVA athletes.
Emily McIndoe is dedicated to advancing equity in sports medicine and neuroscience, improving healthcare outcomes for underrepresented populations, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Mcindoe is an active member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise.
