Biography

Elizabeth Maquera received her bachelor’s of science from Virginia Tech majoring in experimental neuroscience along with a minor in medicine and society. While completing her degree, she took part in undergraduate research pertaining to the neurological causes of psychiatric disorders. Her research centered on anxiety and depression. She was a teaching assistant for neuroscience lectures and lab courses. She also worked closely with children with autism and their families.

After graduation, Maquera joined the Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) initiative as a research specialist. Her research interests include clinical investigation of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and differential neurodevelopment and its impact on learning.
