Biography

Chetna Priya is a Ph.D. student in the higher education program working with Professor Brian Pusser. Priya's research focuses on the intersections of politics and education, with a particular focus on the governance of public universities. Priya is especially interested in examining the dynamics of governance of Indian higher education and comparing systems globally.

Before pursuing her doctorate, Priya worked as a research assistant on various projects at Oxford University, the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University, and Delhi University. Priya earned her M.Phil. from the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), where her research addressed governance challenges and questions of autonomy at Patna University, one of the oldest universities in India.

Originally from Bihar, India, her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to education. Priya is a recipient of the Johnnie E. Merritt Fellowship and the Provost’s Fellowship, recognizing her potential in higher education research.
