Bernadette Poerio

Bernadette Poerio has a history of focusing on student-driven success. Formerly a third-grade teacher, Poerio pivoted to higher education and student affairs in 2016. She spent two years at Piedmont Virginia Community College, first as an academic advisor and then as a career pathways coordinator. From 2018 to 2022, she served as the EHD's online student support specialist before transitioning to her current role as assistant director of student affairs in July 2022. In this role, Poerio supports the school's orientation efforts, advises the Education Council, contributes to crisis management responses, works with student organizations, and helps coordinate graduation events.
