Education

Originally from Newport News, Virginia, Kari Hill Couling is a UVA alumna. She began her teaching career as a fourth-grade teacher in Darien, Connecticut. She moved to California in 2001 and taught kindergarten before accepting the role of learning specialist for K-8 at St. Joseph's School of the Sacred Heart in Atherton.

She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at St. Anne’s-Belfield School and on the Community Advisory Board for the Virginia Institute of Autism. Couling and her husband Kent (COMM '97) have three children and reside in Charlottesville. Kent Couling is an analyst at King Street Capital in Charlottesville after a career as an executive director at Morgan Stanley.
