Biography

Kara Cella (EHD ‘92) is a former public school guidance counselor and agency counselor who has been in private practice for almost 30 years. She assists students with their college application process and working on writing, study skills, and executive functioning skills. Cella works 1:1 with students and families to explore colleges that are good fits and where kids can be both successful and happy. She started her career in community agency work in Charlottesville at Jobsite and in the greater Boston area, serving as the director of a teen parenting and pregnancy center before she left to pursue guidance counseling in the Duxbury, Massachussetts, school system. Cella has also served as a long-term substitute counselor at the Pembroke Community Middle School.

Cella attended Bryn Mawr College, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology with a focus on Education Psychology, and then attended the University of Virginia, where she earned an M.Ed. in Counseling Education. Cella lives in Pembroke, Virginia, with her husband Charles (LAW ‘92) and four children. Her youngest daughter Chloe is a current third year.
