John Teahan

John Teahan is the school's senior administrative leader, overseeing business and finance, communications and marketing, educational technologies, facilities and events, and the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services, while partnering closely with Dean Stephanie Rowley on the school's long-term direction.

Prior to the Education School, Teahan served for nearly 12 years as senior associate dean for administration at the UVA School of Nursing. During his tenure, he guided the School of Nursing through its transition to becoming a UVA Health entity in 2020, stewarded the school through several iterations of the University Financial Model, built data-driven approaches to support decision-making, and led the expansion of the school's clinical simulation and outdoor campus spaces.

Teahan also spent seven years in the UVA Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, ultimately as associate vice provost for administration. From 2010 to 2014, he oversaw fiscal operations for 11 schools and 32 reporting units. Earlier in his career, he held positions in student life, admissions, and residence life at UVA, Loyola University Maryland, and Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. He holds a bachelor's degree in English, Writing, and Media from Loyola University Maryland and a master's degree in counselor education from UVA.
