Biography

Emma Dodoo is a postdoctoral researcher and her work focuses on supporting teachers in designing and facilitating equitable STEM+CS learning experiences that can support student and teacher learning. Dodoo's research has examined how K-12 computing teachers understand and support emergent bilingual students, with a focus on how teachers design inclusive CS learning experiences at the intersection of computing education and bilingual education. Across her research, Dodoo uses qualitative methods, including semi-structured interviews, collective case studies, co-design, and heuristic evaluation approaches adapted from Human-Computer Interaction, to understand teachers’ experiences, decision-making processes, and instructional practices. Dodoo's work aims to advance more accessible and equitable computing learning environments by recognizing and building upon students’ linguistic and cultural strengths.
