Cat Buchanan

Cat Buchanan serves as an instructional innovation specialist at the UVA Innovation Hub at Charlottesville Middle School, where she collaborates with teachers to design and teach engaging relevant, computationally rich, and standards-aligned Project Based Learning experiences for middle school students.

Buchanan worked as a bat biologist before bringing that passion for science teaching 7th science and STEM in Harrisonburg City Schools, Tybee Island Maritime Academy, and Charlottesville Middle School. Outside the classroom, Buchanan can usually be found somewhere in nature hiking, biking, or trying to find and identify another plant or creature on her “to see” list.
