My research centers on early childhood care and education, with a special interest in mathematics teaching and learning. Through collaborative partnerships, I study how to help prospective and in-service teachers of young children cultivate professional knowledge and habits of mind that support ambitious instructional practices.
The other arm of my research focuses on the development of children’s problem-solving strategies across multiple mathematical topic areas. Correspondingly, I am interested in creating ways to make children’s problem-solving strategies visible, as well as amenable to description and measurement.
