Megan is a Kinesiology major from Hong Kong.
My experiences in the Education School so far have been overwhelmingly positive. I am constantly engaged by passionate professors, challenging material, and interesting classmates. The classes I have taken in the Education School value application-based and hands-on learning, and because of that I feel that I have become a more well-rounded learner.
True to my Kinesiology background, I love sports and can't seem to get enough of it! I am currently one of the captains for the Club Women's Ultimate Frisbee team and work as a supervisor with IM Rec. Starting in the fall, I will be joining the Undergraduate Sports Medicine program, working with UVA's athletic trainers to help our student athletes with injury prevention and rehabilitation.
I love being outdoors and you'll usually find me exercising in some way, shape, or form. I love to hike and recently got back into running. I also enjoy spending time with friends, whether it be playing frisbee, exploring the Charlottesville scenery, or just hanging out around Grounds!
After graduation, I'm hoping to pursue the accelerated Master of Athletic Training program and then eventually a career in Athletic training. Previously volunteering in physical therapy clinics, I enjoyed using exercise as a method of rehabilitation, but I found myself getting restless in the clinic. Athletic training is a perfect combination of my interests in sports rehabilitation and working with active populations, so this seemed like the ideal career path for me!
My favorite thing about the Education School is the sense of community and opportunities for students to collaborate with peers and faculty. Knowing that there is a large support network made my transition into college much easier, and I am excited to be a part of that welcoming community for new students.
