Committing to solving Virginia's teacher shortage crisis.

The UVA K-12 Advisory Council has partnered with the Curry School of Education & Human Development, the Virginia Office of the Secretary of Education and the Virginia Department of Education to host two summits aimed at addressing Virginia's teacher retention crisis. In October 2016, the Commonwealth of Virginia had more than 1.000 vacant teaching positions. Over the course of two years, leaders have met to address the overarching issue of teacher shortage and one tactic of addressing the shortage: Teacher retention.
