Enhanced CBT treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:
- Enhanced concerns over handwashing and contamination can exacerbate OCD symptoms, let us help with effective intervention that can distinguish “the new normal” from OCD symptoms. There is no need to put off treatment.
Effective treatment for PTSD and trauma-based disorders:
- Global, large-scale stressors can exacerbate PTSD and trauma symptoms. Our clinicians are trained in the gold-standard treatments for these symptoms and can effectively deliver them via telehealth.

Literacy Intervention for Elementary and Middle Grade Students
- One-to-one virtual literacy lesson: 1) systematic teaching of phonemic awareness, phonics/decoding, and spelling to build word recognition, 2) targeted reading and writing instruction with applied practice, and 3) comprehension includes background knowledge, vocabulary, and strategy use.
About Our Tele-Practice Services
Translating clinical science into service solutions for you and your family.
For many clinical services, delivery via clinical videoconferencing has shown no differences in the quality and outcomes of services. For some services, modifications are required to ensure the quality and rigor of assessments and interventions. Clients participating in tele-practice benefit from the convenience of receiving services in their own homes, but also must make sure to create a home space with adequate privacy and minimal distraction for services. Clients of younger children may be asked to take a more active role during sessions than they are used to and all clients will likely be asked to convey forms and questionnaires over the Center's secure messaging system.
Overall, it’s a smooth process that your clinician and assigned support staff will help guide you through. Although common problems can emerge, six decades of telehealth research suggest that many perceived barriers tend to fade away or are effectively addressed with flexibility and the vast majority of individuals receiving telehealth services endorse high rates of satisfaction.
Many practitioners throughout the country are currently experimenting with providing services via video-conferencing and we support and applaud those creative adaptations as necessary. Yet, it is also important to know that the Sheila C. Johnson Center faculty and leadership have extensive experience in implementing tele-services. Our faculty have published dozens of clinical investigations related to translating in-person services to telehealth contexts, including several firsts in the field, and are acknowledged leaders, with extensive experience in telehealth innovation and in consultation, conducting clinical trainings in tele-practice for local, national, and international healthcare systems. Accordingly, you can rest assured that the Sheila C. Johnson Center is providing safe and effective tele-services.
