Saturday & Summer Enrichment Program

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Saturday and Summer Enrichment programs! We are busy planning for 2022 with hopes for a return to grounds. As you know, the ongoing course of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in light of the Delta variant, continues to carry implications for the ability to offer our traditional programs. As always, our primary concern for all is the protection of the health and well-being of students, staff members, and the broader community. SEP recognizes the efforts by the University and our K-12 schools to fulfill their educational missions in the best way possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. At present, we are quite hopeful that we will be able to offer an in-person Saturday program, and we are planning accordingly. However, uncertainty remains and, thus, we are not entirely certain if a program will be offered to participants in grades K-5, or in what modality (remote v. in-person v. no program). We will make these decisions in consultation with School of Education and Human Development and UVA leadership in the coming weeks. These decisions will also address safety protocols for an on-Grounds program. Please check on our website where you will find updated information as these decisions are solidified.

In coordination with the School of Education and Human Development, the Saturday and Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) seeks to offer gifted and/or high ability students a rich and engaging learning experience outside the regular classroom environment. Modeling best practices in curriculum and instruction, the SEP staff works as a community to maximize potential in each student and foster a passion for lifelong learning. Fosters talent development in gifted youth and their teachers.

SEP hosts two programs throughout the year. The Saturday program serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  The Summer residential program hosts students in rising fifth through eleventh grades.  Please click on the corresponding links for further program and application information.

Saturday Enrichment Program

Traditionally, the Saturday Program is offered every winter, on five consecutive Saturday mornings in January and February. This program offers academic enrichment classes for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th. At present, we are hopeful that we will be able to offer an in-person Saturday program, and we are planning accordingly.  However, given the ongoing Covid pandemic, we are not entirely certain if a program will be offered to participants in grades K-5, or in what modality (remote v. in-person v. no program).  We will make these decisions in consultation with School of Education and Human Development and UVA leadership in the coming weeks.  Please check on our website where you will find updated information as these decisions are solidified
