Specialty Services and Treatments

Parenting Difficulties

We provide effective, time-limited help with many problems parents observe in children between the ages of 4 and 17 including acting out/severe tantrums, behavioral defiance, emotional dysregulation, school avoidance, social anxiety, and excessive worry.  Specific treatments we use include:

  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children and Adolescents (DBT)
  • Parent Management Training (PMT).

Trauma & PTSD

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a condition that sometimes arises after exposure to traumatic events.  The good news is there are very effective treatments for PTSD and people who suffer from it can recover and heal.  Our clinicians all receive specialized training in effective treatment for trauma-related problems, including PTSD.  Treatment is provided in a safe, one-on-one setting and each client is supported by a treatment team assisting with their care.

Emotion Dysregulation

Emotional dysregulation in children and adolescents can be expressed in many different ways including impulsive behavior, social difficulties, attention problems, and even suicidal thoughts.  We provide specialized training for parents, and adolescents in how to manage and improve reactions to strong negative emotions utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Children & Adolescents.

DBT is an effective, evidence-based treatment for youth with emotion dysregulation problems that focuses on four primary areas:

  • Mindfulness
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness.
