The MAP-Weight Pilot Study

What We Do

We are evaluating if using multiple measures of m-health can better sustain weight maintenance after clinically significant weight loss.

Obese adults will consume the Optifast diet (hypocaloric meal replacement) and participate in an aerobic exercise training program to reduce body weight by 7% for 12 weeks. One group will then receive m-health measures (e.g. a digital scale, accelerometer, remote blood pressure monitor, dietary application) to promote weight maintenance and retention of the health improvements from achieving weight loss. Data from the m-health devices will be used by a multi-disciplinary team (e.g. nutritionist, exercise physiologist, physician) to monitor the weight trajectories and promote optimal cardiovascular health during the weight maintenance period.

Diet and Nutrition Research Laboratory

Our mission is to investigate the effect of diet on health and learning outcomes, especially in children. The lab consists of a metabolic kitchen and a feeding/dining area with a play space for our studies in children.
