I conduct research on the effects of educational policy and school social context on teaching and learning in the core academic subjects. I have a special focus on the relationship between policy and practice in the areas of teacher education and induction. Currently, I am conducting research on ways that neural networks can be used to automatically classify instructional activities in video. I also serve as co-editor of the forthcoming second volume of the Handbook of Education Policy Research.
