The UVA School of Education and Human Development is pleased to announce the launch of a revised curriculum for its highly ranked online M.Ed. in administration and supervision program.

The program now provides two pathways to help educators achieve their administrative licensure goals. The first pathway, designed for those without a master’s degree, offers a quicker route to licensure with just 30 credit hours, reducing both the time and cost of earning the degree. For those who already have a master’s degree, a streamlined 24-credit-hour route is available.

Both pathways lead to eligibility for preK-12 administrative licensure and feature an internship embedded in the program. This ensures that students gain practical, hands-on leadership training integrated with coursework.

“We've listened closely to feedback from educators and have restructured the program to offer more flexible, affordable pathways while maintaining the high standards that have earned us our national reputation for excellence in educational leadership,” said Michelle Beavers, associate professor in the Department of Education Leadership, Foundations and Policy.

Ranked No. 1 in Virginia and No. 7 nationally, the accredited, fully online program is designed to prepare graduates to promote systemic equity in schools. Through evidence-based leadership practices, students learn to develop school goals, lead instructional programs, develop faculty and staff, and redesign organizational features.
