The University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development has again been recognized for offering one of the country’s best online graduate education programs.

In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs rankings, the school tied for ninth place among more than 300 schools.

All four of the school’s programs ranked by U.S. News also landed in the top 10:

  • Curriculum and Instruction: No. 7
  • Administration and Supervision: No. 5
  • Special Education: No. 7
  • Instructional Media Design: No. 9

EHD was also named the No. 2 best online master’s in education program for veterans, based on overall program quality and financial benefits to veterans and active service members.

The overall rankings are based on five categories: engagement, peer assessment, faculty credentials and training, services and technologies, and student excellence.

“It’s an honor to see our programs consistently ranked among the top in the country,” said Catherine Brighton, senior associate dean for academic programs and student affairs. “This recognition reaffirms the incredible work being done by our faculty and staff to provide an online experience that combines flexibility with the highest academic standards.”
