This year, two faculty members from the UVA School of Education and Human Development's Department of Kinesiology received national honors from the National Athletic Trainers Association, the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers. Jacob Resch and Chris Kuenze, both associate professors, were honored at the organization's annual conference in June.
Jacob Resch: International Service Award
Jacob Resch, associate professor, received this year’s International Service Award. The International Service Award recognizes certified athletic trainers who have displayed exceptional commitment in the education and development of athletic training in an international setting.
Resch received the award for his work with the Isokinetic Medical Group of Bologna, Italy, an international medical group for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of muscular pathologies and orthopedic and sports injuries.
Chris Kuenze: NATA Fellow
Chris Kuenze, associate professor, was named as a 2024 NATA Fellow. NATA fellow status recognizes members of the association who have demonstrated outstanding professional scholarly achievement in combination with leadership in advancing research and scholarly endeavors in the profession, including the education and scholarly development of trainees.
Fellows must have demonstrated development and leadership of a research agenda, extending beyond serving as a contributor, resulting in the scholarly dissemination of work resulting in noteworthy impact on the athletic training profession. Kuenze was one of three people awarded fellow status in 2024.
