Project Crossover is a mixed methods project that looks to uncover the mechanisms in transitioning from a graduate student to scientist in chemistry and physics. Primarily, this project seeks to address three main questions. First, is there a common approach to educating graduate students and are these commonalities across programs linked to graduation more productive scientists? Second, what criteria are applied to gauge whether students are prepared to become independent researchers? How do the impressions of advisors and graduate students differ?
This project has continued beyond the original three-year plan and data from the project is continually being analyzed and results disseminated.
