Based on prior research indicating the importance of interest in science on the eventual choice to earn a degree in science, this accelerated longitudinal study looks to investigate the trajectory of early interest in science and the factors impacting this trajectory.  Looking at the middle school years (sixth, seventh, and eighth graders), survey data was collected on student interests and thoughts about science.

Given the sampling population, the collected data will provide insight into student interest in science, its development over the span, and differences in attitude based on geographic location, gender, and race.
