Educational Psychology/Applied Developmental Science Graduates:


Eileen Merritt – Adjunct Associate Professor, College of Natural Resources and Environment at Virginia Tech
Dr. Merritt is an environmental educator who teaches students of all ages. Her work focuses on advancing experiential learning pedagogies such as garden-based learning, environmental service-learning and nature journaling.

Kathleen Moritz Rudasill – Professor and interim dean, School of Education, Virginia Commonwealth University
Dr. Rudasill is a professor of educational psychology at VCU where she currently serves as interim dean, and previously served as the associate dean of research and faculty development. Her research is focused on the interplay between children's individual differences (e.g., temperament, race, gender) and elements of the classroom environment.

Education Policy Graduate:


Katharine Meyer – Fellow in the Governance Studies program for the Brown Center on Education Policy at the Brookings Institution 
Dr. Meyer focuses on how individuals access knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their postsecondary education opportunities – and how to build successful, scalable strategies to ensure greater access to that information. Her current work explores how to support college retention and completion through virtual advising, the effect of school counselors on college access, and the design of state financial aid programs. Meyer holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, a Masters of Public Policy, an M.Ed. in Research, Statistics, and Evaluation, and a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia.

Higher Education Graduate:


Josh Pretlow - Director, Education Research at RTI International
Dr. Pretlow currently works mostly on federal education studies funded by NCES and NSF. He also leads the business development function for his center at RTI. Previously, he was at the UNC System Office where he helped them make data informed policies.
