The Office of the Vice President for Research, in collaboration with the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Data Science, and the School of Education and Human Development, is organizing a workshop for all faculty and staff who are interested in the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program (https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=503214). This will be held Tuesday, March 11th, in Holloway Hall, 10 am-1pm.

Learn the latest guidance from NSF and hear insights from previous CAREER award recipients from across a range of disciplines. Early career faculty across the sciences, social sciences, education, and engineering are encouraged to attend whether or not they intend to apply to this summer’s 7/23 deadline.

Participants are encouraged to attend in-person. A Zoom link will be provided upon request for those who are not able to join in-person. A boxed lunch will be provided for in-person attendees who would like one (please indicate if you plan to attend in-person and if you would like a boxed lunch when you submit the RSVP form).

Workshop Agenda: 

  • 10:00-10:15 Welcome and introductions 
  • 10:15-11:00 NSF Program Director presentation, TBA (attending and presenting via Zoom) 
  • 11:00-11:30 5-minute lightning talks by faculty who have received NSF CAREER awards 
  • 11:30-12:00 Panel discussion with speakers 
  • 12:00-1:00 Lunch & networking; if there are Zoom participants, a breakout room for virtual networking will be arranged.
