The Speak Up Project

The Speak Up Project is an exploration of virtual simulation as a training platform for pre-service teachers to practice advocacy on behalf of English Learners. As simulation training is embedded in UVA teacher education at both the elementary and secondary levels, this research will offer fellows the opportunity to engage with students and faculty across UVAs range of teacher education programming, including both online and in-person program formats. This project is led by Chris Chang-Bacon and April Salerno and will offer fellows the opportunity to engage in developing and researching innovative scenario-based learning for preservice teachers.
