The RULER Project

The RULER Research Project at CASTL is a randomized controlled trial of the RULER program, a social and emotional learning approach designed to support teachers and youth in their recognition, understanding, and regulation of emotions. With almost 50 schools in a district with rich language diversity, this project offers an ideal opportunity for future EL-VEST fellows to learn about work at the intersection of EL and social and emotional learning. The work is led by Jason Downer and Sara Rimm-Kaufman and has opportunities to learn about issues of SEL measurement, teacher-student interactions, fidelity of implementation, open science, WWC conventions among other topics consistent with the goals of EL-VEST.
