Angel works with the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) team as an Outreach and Communication Specialist. Prior to employment at UVA, Angel has taught throughout the southeastern United States with a majority of her 20 years of teaching experience in kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Most recently, she was a certified NC K-12 Reading Specialist where she served as a reading interventionist, school-wide Title I and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator, as well as Parent & Family Engagement Coordinator. She has served as a district collaborative team member for writing reading intervention protocols for all elementary classroom teachers, facilitator for school wide leadership committees / Professional Learning Communities as well as a teacher trainer in areas such as data interpretation and classroom intervention implementation. Angel has collaborated with practicum students and student teachers from various colleges throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee and is a member of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Throughout her teaching career, she has received various awards including school and district level Teacher of the Year
