Biography

Emily Barton Kohler is focused on education technology (edtech) implementation, discovering and defining the individual and contextual factors that contribute to the success or failure of edtech in various instructional environments. She is the director of implementation research at the EdTech Evidence Exchange, a nonprofit aiming to provide edtech decision-makers with the information they need to make appropriate edtech choices and effectively implement edtech in their contexts. Her research synthesizes technology usage data, contextual and individual characteristics, and direct user input from educators about how technologies do or don’t work in their schools–and why. Currently, she is building an EdTech Implementation Framework that will serve as the foundation for a crowdsourced, curated EdTech Evidence Exchange.
