Racial Equity Challenge: February 2018

Curry Community

Given the events of August 11 and August 12, the Diversity Action Committee is proudly sponsoring a Racial Equity Challenge this February*.  We invite all of you to take part in the challenge, making use of the many resources, opportunities and events at our disposal to better understand and act upon issues of racial equity. We encourage you to use this opportunity to stretch yourself to explore new ideas and actions about racial equity during the month of February. There are lots of ways to do this, here’s a sample:

blogs, articles, books

movies, TED Talks, documentaries, videos

podcasts, music

observe interpersonal dynamics, media

participate in a conversation about race

follow organizations & activists on social media, join an organization

stand up for racial equity by advocating for policy change

take time to reflect through writing or conversation; consider other perspectives

At the end of February, we will send you a short survey to get a snapshot of how our community engaged in the challenge.  Participate as much as you can!  Through the survey, you’ll have the option for public recognition via Curry LCD screens and/or the DAC website.

*We encourage you to always work towards racial equity, not just in February; however, if we don’t actively bring it to our attention it is easy to let slide.  So, in February we’ll send weekly emails to keep you engaged—practice and intention can help build a lifelong habit!

Where To Begin?

Here is just a sample of activities and resources- including several Curry events!  Do you know of other events or opportunities that would be relevant to the Racial Equity Challenge?  Please email DAC member Blaire Cholewa ([email protected]) and we will add them to our weekly email update.
